About

Candis Griggs is an Objects Conservator with two decades of experience working on ethnographic, archaeological, and decorative objects. She is a Professional Associate of the AIC (American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works), with a Masters of Art Conservation from Queen’s University and a Bachelor’s Degree from Cornell University.

Drawn into conservation through archaeology, Ms. Griggs worked on sites in Greece, Pakistan, and Honduras before receiving her Master’s Degree and settling down in the Bay Area. There she had a private Conservation practice and worked with several local institutions including the Fine Arts Museums, the Asian Art Museum, and the SF Airport Museum. During that time she held several positions on the board of the Bay Area Art Conservation Guild (BAACG) including President, Vice President and Treasurer. From 2012-2018, Ms. Hakim was on contract in the Middle East with the National Museum of Qatar project, where she treated a wide variety of objects- from Bedouin leather bags to priceless tiaras. She and her two daughters have now returned to the Bay Area, settling in beautiful Sonoma County. Candis is once again consulting with collectors and institutions around the Bay.
